LOS ANGELES, CA – September 4, 2014 – From the producers of Project Runway, skilled teen and tween fashion designers will showcase their gift for style in Lifetime’s new competition series, Threads, premiering October 23, at 10:30pm ET/PT following the finale of season 13 of Project Runway.  New episodes will air Thursdays at 10pm ET/PT.  Hosted by Vanessa Simmons (Run’s House), judges include designer and CFDA member Christian Siriano (Project Runway Season Four winner), Seventeen Fashion Director Gina Kelly and Accessories Editor Jasmine Snow, and YouTube style guru Ingrid Nilsen (@heyingridnilsen 2.5 million subscribers). The eight-episode series was filmed in Los Angeles at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising (FIDM).  The premiere episode features special guests television personality Kelly Osbourne and actress and model Jaime King. Actress, singer and dancer Zendaya will also make a guest appearance during this season.

Threads is a competition series showcasing America’s most talented young fashion designers.  Each week, three new contestants pull out their scissors, sketchbooks and skills to see who can out-design the competition and set the new standard for the future of fashion.  Challenges will be fast-paced, unpredictable and far from child’s play as these nascent fashion powerhouses compete for $10,000 to be used at any
Jo-Ann Fabrics and Crafts Store or, a scholarship to the summer program at FIDM and a top of the line sewing and embroidery studio courtesy of Brother International Corporation.  

Threads hails from The Weinstein Company, Full Picture and Sara Rea Productions. Executive producers include Bob and Harvey Weinstein (Co-Chairmen of The Weinstein Company), Meryl Poster, Patrick Reardon and Barbara Schneeweiss of The Weinstein Company, Jane Cha and Desiree Gruber of Full Picture and Sara Rea.  Eli Lehrer, Mary Donahue and David Hillman of Lifetime also executive produce.

Weinstein TV is also excited to announce the series premiere of Cement Heads, which premiered on A&E in August. TWC series that were produced in 2013 include Mob Wives Season 4, which VH1 has picked up for Season 5, Million Dollar Shoppers for Lifetime, Rodeo Girls for A&E and Trailer Park: Welcome To Myrtle Manor Season 2 for TLC.  Announced scripted projects include John Fusco's historical action-adventure epic Marco Polo for Netflix, Ten Commandments, a 10-part event series with each episode to be helmed by a different A-list director and focusing on one commandment and an adaptation of Daniel Stashower¹s bestselling Civil War-era spy thriller, The Hour Of Peril. TWC also developed Amy Sherman Palladino's The Nanny Diaries for ABC and produced the Peabody award-winning HBO series The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency, directed by Anthony Minghella.

Prior to Project Runway, Rea was a producer on shows such as NBC’s Sports Illustrated: Swimsuit Model Search, Spike TV’s Murder and Lifetime’s America’s Psychic Challenge.
